I've got too many clothes—said no woman ever! But let’s be honest: can we really have too many clothes? Every time I open my email, I’m hit with promotions for everything from Boho travel ensembles to spring vacation styles to outrageous outerwear. While Boho might catch my eye, what I really crave are timeless, gorgeous pieces that are special—whether they’re unique or classic.
When I shop for Princess Bazaar, we sift through thousands of pieces—no kidding! We spend days exploring different collections, on the hunt for products you won’t find at your local Westfields or the typical chain stores. We want you to come to us for those truly special items. We create storyboards to see which labels work well together, which ones offer standalone gems, and which deliver those fabulous “look at me” pieces that add brilliance to any wardrobe.
I understand that not everyone is after the “look at me” piece, but I think every wardrobe deserves at least one! I’m not a fan of the 3-3-3 rule (seriously, Google it—it’s quite boring). Every wardrobe needs a great pair of jeans; in fact, my favorite pair is hanging on by a thread, yet I can't bear to part with them! I also have a handful of shirts that are over 12 years old. I tend to hold onto things because I’ve learned to buy only what I truly love. Plus, I’m a sucker for a great jacket or coat. Yes, I might have a few too many, but I wear them all, and they bring me so much joy!
Now, I know that those standout pieces can come with a higher price tag. But think about it: a $500 statement piece that I can wear once a month for the next 15 years breaks down to just $2.77 per wear! In comparison, a $49 shirt that I only wear three times? Well, we both know how that story ends—into the donate bin!
When you look at it this way, all you need are some great basics—like a pair of jeans, black pants, a black skirt, black camisoles, and a slip dress (I’ll pass on shorts, thank you very much). Add in some fabulous statement pieces, and you’ve got yourself the perfect wardrobe that’s super mix-and-match friendly. I’ve spent the last 20 years collecting great pieces, because the best statement items never go out of style!
I will admit, I’m still angry with the new creative director at Desigual. Their current direction just doesn’t do it for me. Yet, every time I wear one of their older “statement” pieces, I swear I could sell it right off my back!
Johnny Was definitely reigns supreme in the statement piece department, especially their velvets for winter and embroidered shirts for summer. They’re timeless and stunning, and they’re always the hottest items in my boutique. Any Johnny Was piece is sure to turn heads and make a fantastic addition to your wardrobe!
I’m also loving Maison Hotel shirts—they have this unique style that’s just beautiful. Whether it’s the fabric or the prints, they’re simply amazing. And don’t forget about the Australian label Ruby YaYa! Their pieces are not only standout but also super affordable. The prints are timeless, the fabrics are easy to care for, and they’re designed with the Australian woman in mind.
But if you’re looking for the best bang for your buck in statement pieces, look no further than Cienna! Cienna silk blend shirts are simply gorgeous and at just $139.95, they’re unbeatable in value! I have Cienna shirts that are over six years old, and they still look fantastic and totally in style.
If you have a beloved pair of jeans, a favorite skirt, or some go-to pants, feel free to bring them along next time you shop with us! We’re more than happy to help you mix in some timeless pieces.
At Princess Bazaar, we don’t focus on what’s trendy. Honestly, I’m not too concerned about what’s in fashion right now. Instead, we’re all about clothes that make you feel amazing—pieces you’ll treasure for years and that make you smile every time you wear them. Let’s find you something that is that special Wow.
